Early Childhood Screening

Screen at 3! From the ages of 3-5 your child is eligible for a free and fun comprehensive developmental screening through Rochester Public Schools. This screening gives you an early look at your child’s hearing, vision and development which helps us paint a picture of your child’s skills in thinking, language, motor control as well as social/emotional development. In addition, screening staff will connect you with resources to help prepare your child for success in school. The best time to schedule your child’s screening is any time after their 3rd birthday.

Please note that Early Childhood Developmental Screening helps a school district identify children who may benefit from district and community resources available to help in their development. Early Childhood Developmental Screening includes a vision screening that helps detect potential eye problems but is not a substitute for a comprehensive eye exam. For additional information visit the Minnesota Department of Education Early Childhood website.
