Project Timeline

Recommended Student Timeline

Participating in the Rochester Regional Science and Engineering Fair (RRSEF) can seem complicated if you have never done it before. Below is a recommended timeline that you can follow to help make the process a bit easier. This schedule should be modified to meet your project needs; however, all paperwork must be completed, signed, and dated in the order that appears below and put into your Project Notebook. 

A packet with the original copies of all of your paperwork needs to be submitted to the RRSEF at the Community Education Office by January 11, 2019. You must retain a copy ​​​of all of your paperwork in your Project Notebook to help you prepare for the Fair in February.

First Stage: September/October

  • Select Topic 
  • Begin Research and Find Reference Materials
  • Begin and Maintain Project Notebook to Hold Paperwork, Research, Data, and Analysis

Complete Part One of the RRSEF Approval Form

Complete Page one of ISEF Form 1A Student Checklist (start and end dates can be blank until you turn in form before the RRSEF)

 

Second Stage: October/November       

  • Prepare Research Plan or Project Summary
  • Determine if Your Project Requires SRC Review

Complete Part Two of the RRSEF Approval Form

Write Research Plan or Project Summary (page two of Form 1A Student Checklist)

Write Research Plan or Project Summary (as part of Approval Form)

Student and Parent/Guardian Sign And Date ISEF Approval Form 1B

Ask Teacher if Plan Requires SRC Approval(or complete ISEF Rules Wizard)

Complete ISEF Rules Wizard To See if Your Project Requires SRC Review

 

With Adult Sponsor, Complete ISEF Checklist for Adult Sponsor (be sure all questions and check boxes are filled in)

 

Third Stage: October/November

  • Attend SRC Review (If Needed Based on ISEF Rules Wizard)
  • Project Experimentation and Data Collection Begins (After SRC Review If Required) (write start date on student checklist)

Fourth Stage: November/December

Write 250-word (or less) Abstract on Part Three of RRSEF Approval Form

Complete ISEF 22 Categories Abstract Form(with all questions answered)

Write Post-Project Summary (only needed if there were changes in Research Plan during course of project)

Fifth Stage: January

  • Finalize Science Fair Paperwork to Turn in to Community Education
  • Make Copy of all Science Fair Paperwork for your Project Notebook 
  • Review Display and Safety Guidelines to Make Sure Your Poster Follows State Regulations
  • Watch Your Email for Updates on Paperwork and Planning for Fair

Review Your Paper Packet to Make Sure All Documents are in Order

 

Turn In Original Copies of All Paperwork to Community Education 
and Keep a Copy of All Documents for Your Project Notebook

Five Final Research Paper Copies Due January 28, 2019
