Did you know: Minnesotans can now claim the Child Tax Credit, with no limit on the number of children claimed. You must file a 2023 individual income tax return in order to claim the credit. Most taxpayers who are eligible to claim the new Child Tax Credit are also eligible for free tax preparation assistance. Learn more about income requirements and qualifications on the Child Tax Credit webpage: https://www.revenue.state.mn.us/child-tax-credit The tax credit of up to $1750 per child is estimated to cut child poverty by up to one-third in Minnesota. Nearly 300,000 households, including 513,000 children, are estimated to qualify for the credit.

When our track & field numbers doubled last year, so did the need to remove barriers for many students to safe and appropriate footwear....and the Rochester Running Club answered the call with the donation of hundreds of pairs of shoes to RPS students. This was their recent donation. HUGE thank you!

We want to recognize Jason Schmidt. If you don't know Jason, he is one of our amazing custodial staff during the day. Most of us know Jason because he has figured out and fixed something in our rooms that others said can't be done. With a simple suggestion Jason has converted our ticket booth into a functioning coffee shop for our students and clubs to raise money. One student was quoted as saying yesterday "I can't believe we can have a space this cool at JM". Thank you Jason for going above and beyond!!

This week is National School Counseling Week. Our counselors work with all students to remove barriers to learning by helping students apply academic achievement strategies, manage emotions, build interpersonal skills, support mental health needs, and plan for post-secondary options. No counselor’s job is the same because they adapt so well to what is needed from our students and schools as a whole. Thank you, counselors, for all you do in Rochester Public Schools!

JM Physics students demonstrated their mastery of momentum and impulse by dropping raw eggs from the back of the JM Rocket Stadium to the ground below. They were given some raw materials to devise their plans. 80% success rate after dropping 1m, 2m and from upstairs balcony first. Time for scrambled eggs! (Ms Erickson’s classes shown here).
